I haven't checked, but the story as I remember it is that he either invested in or took a public role in an existing pageant company. Whether he should or shouldn't have is up for debate; but I think it was something like... trump steaks, trump casino, trump pageant. I think he even went the usual route by having one of the pageant shows happening at the hotel which he also owned.
