Generally speaking Obama came in espousing a lot of Socialist ideas and then not delivering on any of them.
Even his famous Obamacare (what they call the ACA now) was basically built to help the insurance companies at the cost to the average american.
While at first it was believed it was just because the Republicans were cucking him at every turn (McConnel united the entire Republican party around the idea that Obama is a threat to the US and any God Fearing American should recognize this, even though that was ridiculous), the Dems also fucked with Obama, so it was clear both parties were uninterested in Socialism.
Given Obama then spent the entirety of his second term enriching himself by constantly meeting with celebrities and making connections with ultrarich people to ensure his family could do whatever the fuck they wanted after the presidency, it became clear the Socialist ideas he pushed were nonsense that he didn't care about.
This is what gave birth to the Trump and Bernie movements, people who felt that politics didn't actually give a fuck about the people, despite the fact the politicians claimed they did.
Unfortunately Bernie got cucked super hard by the DNC, and Trump turned out to be a charlatan.
Obama did assist in the cooldown from the housing crisis under W. Bush though, so a lot of people remember that fondly, but Obama then immediately tried to sell out the US with NAFTA 2.0 (aka TPP).
Famously during the Dem primaries Bernie ran on FUCK TPP AND FUCK BANKS
Hilary ran on TPP is good, Obama is good, banks are good.
When Bernie was poised to win the primary she shifted to TPP is bad, Obama who? and Bernie talks about the banks because he doesn't want to talk about the real problem... RACISM AND SEXISM!
So if you want to get schizo about it you can say Obama not just led to Trump, but he also led to the dominance of IdPol in lefty politics.
