Many HTS fighters are not even Syrian. Let's not forget that Damascus was the secular government's stronghold. I think that if a Western/Israeli force invaded and killed the terrorists that's be fine with it. Not so in the Northern cities, these people are gone. But South Syria, including Damascus, could become a decent buffer state for Israel and even Jordan and Lebanon from Turkey's ambition.
