I'm from Brazil and I don't have dark skin, what an illusion foreigners have to think we're obsessed with Europe. On the contrary, Europe is obsessed with dark skin. Over here you have a large chunk of the population who are seen as "white".
These same people won't pass as white in nordic countries, for example that is my case, people consider me white here at home, but after some time reading your opinions I quickly figured out for you I am not white.
We don't really think about this most of the time since most of the times we are, well, at home, but sometimes some people have this shock, is indeed amusing to see the confusion, and a healthy reminder you should better be your nationality rather than your race, it makes things more functional.
