I used to think this movie was some kind of big reveal about the elite. And then I discovered it was based on a book. And that it follows the book beat for beat to the point that apart from a change of location to NY from Vienna and updating to include modern things. So if any revealing was being done, it was being done when the book was written, which is in the 1920's or something.
It was also filmed twice before, but for TV, before Kubrick decided to give it a go. And nobody seems to give a damn about those adaptations.
