I had a friend who started smoking weed, it progressed to shrooms. The shrooms completely rewired his brain. I mean he started acting like a completely different and MUCH more insufferable person. Slowly over time his drug use put him at odds with his family and friends including me. He ended up changing his name to another man's name, told me he was a girl now, tried to fuck his mom while he was high, and apparently got raped by his drug dealer at least once while he was passed out, or so he said. He also would never shutup about aliens and how trees/plants were alive and taking over the world and other hippy shit. Then he disappeared and I haven't seen him in years now. I really miss the guy but at this point he's either dead or completely off his fucking rocker. All of this happened within 2 years of him smoking weed.

I'm not going to say weed was the cause of all this it was just the beginning of his drug journey, but psychedelics can completely ruin your life apparently. I seen it with my own eyes day by day.

Isn't there a lot of good research that says marijuana use can trigger schizophrenia? Like... There are people that have the latent capacity for becoming a schizophrenic, but may go their entire lives without it ever manifesting. But weed can flick that switch. Anecdotally, I've known people who say they knew people who this happened to. Normal people, smoked a bunch of devil's lettuce, now they're crazy.

My reaction the first time I smoked weed was "this is it?" I'd been told my whole life how evil, addictive, and mind-numbing weed was. When I finally tried it myself, I realized it was more mild than alcohol. It made me realize my parents, DARE, the police, and many others lied to me about or exaggerated the dangers of marijuana. It made me wonder what else they lied to me about so around the same time I tried more extreme drugs.

If society had been honest with me about the reality of marijuana, I probably wouldn't have felt compelled to test their lies with other drugs.
