Why do so many pretend it’s an “alliance” instead of just being a modern gay version of Delian League, ie. a tool for USA to project military and economic power?

It has absolutely no real purpose besides this because Russia is only a remote threat cause NATO exists. If NATO didn’t exist, whatever designs Russian hardliners had, they’d never be able to mobilise popular support or break the resistance of other groups in Russia.
China isn’t really a threat to most of NATO members. It’s a threat to US interests in East Asia. They just lack the power projection and presence. It’s not really a global empire.
Their shills (mostly braindead Eastern Europeans, those being the most brainwashed cannon fodder and naturally servile) mostly operate in terms of self-fulfilling prophecy.
After spending two decades of pretending radical Islam is an actual threat, they found ersatz Soviet Union in Russia and China. But those countries are only their opponents cause of their actions.
