I'm not sure the protagonists of a young adult novel and what is essentially literary pornography accurately capture what "women really want". Certainly there's some truth to it, but I think men in general have a tendency towards exaggeration of those elements of female sexual psychology which most diverge from the "pure maiden" archetype, as a sort of defense mechanism where they preemptively consider them more debauched than they really are, rather than be traumatized anew every time they realize a cute girl has been or is slutty or degenerate
