No man expects his wife to contribute half of the finances. However due to feminist harpies like in OP they now HAVE to bring in some money. Buying a house is not feasible in most states with just one income especially if you have/want kids. I actually agree with her. If she pays half of all the bills and yet the guy still expects her to do every single chore around the house too, that's not reasonable.
However, I don't know any man who expects this, and I don't know any woman who gets anywhere close to that.
Usually they just rot away around the house for 8 hours while hubby is at work, then start to do some chore 5 minutes before he comes back and instantly start to complain how busy they are and that he needs to take over for them so they can finally relax the second he opens the door.

because even if the daycare, maid and whatever else they pay for to compensate for the fact that they are not at home eats up their whole income and then some more, they want to keep the job anyway just so they can ditch your ass at a moments notice without having to worry about being without an income.
modern women enter every relationship under the basic assumption that you are a temporary solution they WILL replace at some point (preferably sooner rather than later) and they will build everything around that to enable it.
they could marry you and have children with you and yet they are still working on keeping their exit strategy available at any given moment.
