The timeline indicates that its US policy to clip the wings of Europe and its elites. Does that imply they also want a conventional war between EU states and Russia that would intensify the above? Sure, makes sense.

Sure, they are loyal to USA hegemony, committed Atlanticists, they see no divergence between US interests and those of Euros.
So OP is right, USA will decide not to get involved in a hot war with Russia, but it will be happy to finance and arm Europe as it fights following the manufacture of the perfect conditions.

Budgets don't increase, they get reshuffled. Besides, Europe's fate is death by demographics and dwindling economy anyway, the only way Europe could ever somehow ride the tiger is by annexing the entire Russia and turning it into EU Lebensraum.

I don't see the Russians trying it tho. They invaded Georgia and Ukraine and also keep an occupied territory in Moldova. I don't see them invading a NATO member on their borders.

Americans love warfare, we invaded Mexico for shitty reasons, we blew up our own battleship to fight a war against Spain, we declared war on Germany because we were supposedly threatened by them suggesting Mexico attack us even as they were in a civil war. Realistically, what can the US send?
They only have something like 1400 tanks, and the rest is pretty much air force and about 4 operational carriers (there are 11 "in active service", but only 4-5 are actually available for operations).

So in a conventional war, all of NATO has the ability to over 2 years replace 30-40% of Polands armed forces in terms of equipment and maybe provide air force support (from airfields they can't defend).
But that's it pretty much.

So it will be nuclear or nothing.
And Russia has more nukes as well.

USA,France,UK would use their naval assets and air force. US some boots on the ground and France and UK special forces.
Germany would stay out of it, but would have no choice in the matter of NATO using it's airspace and vases(Per international law, Germany isn't a sovereign state, see UN Charter).
Sweden would also send air force and naval forces.
I used to think Russia would win easily but current US air superiority is a decade of not two ahead of anything anyone else has.
I can see Baltics Latvia and Estonia falling, but Lithuania probably would hold and serve as a bridgehead to link up with Polish forces.
Russia would lose Kaliningrad and western Belarus if not all of it.
Modern US air power is just too strong for Russia to overcome. Polish and Romanian forces plus Ukraine would be enough to stop Russia, and that's not including western SF and mobile brigades stationed in Eastern Europe.

That is enough. See what happened to Iran's air defence and air force. Sure Russia would fare better but not by much. The naked truth is that Russia is too backwards technologically compared to the West. It would be decimated in open conflict and it's only hope would be nukes.
