Buddy, the cops were waiting for him at his second house to hit. He wasn't supposed to make it and he realized the set up and starting making notes to Kash at the FBI. I would be very cautious taking jobs for desperate democrats right now, even being sent out to get coffee-- who knows what will happen to you. The left path uses low people as pawns to be disposed of if necessary. This dude was no small pawn and if they were getting rid of him, they must have suspected he wasn't very loyal or could keep quiet when squeezed and it looks like the latter was right. Low odds for survival for this guy, every deal will be to save his relatives from someone just like him.

You're right that the police were waiting for him - but they also stood down, let him take the shot, and let him escape by foot. I don't know how to explain that, but I can believe the hit was called off after the first house failed, and then officers were tipped off to his second house.
