There’s was no value for the Dems to release it. Trump would have denied it and gaslighted and his supporters would have believed it like all his other lies.
The truth is the Dems 4d chess’d trump. They knew what’s in it. They saw MAGA demanding disclosure and all the promises to reveal all. Simple rule of politics is never interrupt your opponent when they’re making a mistake. And this one was huge, and obvious, for a long long time. Completely self inflicted wound.
What also true is that the democrats probably had no idea it would be such a devastating wound, triaged and treated so poorly. The fact is Trump can’t pivot from his 1st rule of deny deny deny. Is his name on the list? Yeah. But that could mean nothing. Instead, now, it’s about the coverup and endless questions of how far does it do, and how deep are his crimes. And MAGA conspiracists can’t let go of that; they live for the rabbit hole regardless if there’s a rabbit or not.
