So what's the endgame with AI?

Jobs are vanishing but productivity is going up. Who are they supposed to sell products to when we're all homeless? My company has explicitly told us that all of us are going to be fired by next year because they're replacing all of us with AI instead. Over 5,000 employees, gone. Company will still make the same amount of money, but it'll just go to the owner and upper management without having to pay the 5,000+ employees. Sure they'll get rich but what happens when there are no longer customers who have money to buy things?

What's the plan? What do we do as a society when almost every job no longer exists? Are we just going to charge down this path as fast as we can with no plan at all and self implode as a functional country?

Yeah, that's probably what's going to happen. Once they get AI to the point it can do virtually everything they'll simply throw out a virus that kills the whole population except those who took an inoculation for it.

The minute automation started everyone having a job became a pipe dream. Scientific innovation gave us a bit less than 100 years of continued job increases but now it's not just done, it's reversing.

UBI will happen or total societal collapse. I used to think we'd end up like Brazil but Brazil will have the same thing happen to them and get UBI or collapse. It's the only option for basically every country

Ironically my job was literally coding AI and testing it for recursive reasoning from other AI results making its results worse instead of better over time. They are replacing us, with AI. So the AI is going to be writing itself, and testing itself for recursive results lowering quality, from AI. No way that could go wrong at all.

I'm switching to work at the local factory instead of applying to other jobs in my area of expertise
