This. Planes are way faster and cheaper on a per mile basis. Passenger rail in the US currently has a lower deathrate per mile but only because there's basically no passenger use of rail. If use increased to the levels seen in the rest of the world fatality and injury rates would likely come up to parity and maybe even exceed that of airtravel.

Asking why we're not building passenger rail right now is like asking why we're not making Conestoga wagons in 2025. When you have a superior alternative for 99.999% of cases you don't go back.

lardass detected. I'll give you a pass if you're over 6'5 but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
>what if I don't have a car
If you're too broke to own a car you're not going to be able to afford to live anywhere near a train station or be able to afford the taxis to get around on the far side of the trainride. Even in traincountry people have to take busses and taxis for trips shorter than like 10 miles. Your entire premise is retarded.

So in a deliberately contrived scenario that would never happen in reality airflight is still barely worse than taking a train in ideal circumstances? Got it.

intercity passenger rail is just an obsolete tech. simple as. Train people just don't understand economics at all.

When you have a train, it is limited to 1 dimension for most of its travel: one spatial dimension (forward/backward) a. Cars have access to two spatial dimensions. Planes have access to three spatial dimensions.

Each spatial dimension geometrically increases the potential efficiency of your route. A train must travel along the track, even if the track is not the shortest distance between the origin and destination. A car is able to adapt its path across an extremely intricate 2D network. A plane can go along almost any flightpath; they have total freedom of motion for most of their flight time (subject to other craft and airspace restrictions which are relatively sparse) so they can almost always fly the most optimized path.

Higher dimensionlity of travel also and decreases the likelihood of "logjam" situations. So, a train will be stuck quite frequently because it can only move along the track. If the track is blocked by another train (which happens ALL THE TIME) the train must stop until that block is clear. Cars also face this problem aka traffic -- but a single street obstruction doesn't stop them because they can "go around" the obstructions which is only possible in 2 dimensions. Planes only face "blocks" at airports while waiting for landing clearnace; other than that, they always have the ability to move closer to their destination.

Trains are way comfier than highways or planes. Of course any decent county worth its salt does anything possible to avoid even bus networks since niggers use them.

I don't want to get on a plane to go 1 or 2 states over, anon. Fuck is that so hard to understand? Planes should be for long ass trips over ocean and mountains, not for hopping around city to city.

The problem is we already had public infrastructure. It was an epic road network. It was full of pedestrians and horsemen. You could easily walk all over the country. It was normal to walk a couple miles to town or to school. But then cars came and wiped everyone except the Amish off the road. The only way it could work is if you have some roads be for cars and other roads be unmotorized. Either that or limit cars to 10mph. I wonder if Europeans have lost the ability to walk between cities due to the motorization of their thousands year old intercity roads.

The same way you walk around or stand up anywhere else, get up and walk. Why is this concept so hard for your puny insect brain?

American brains just can't handle rail, they just can't, they sperg out and spew bullshit anytime they're tiny little minds need to comprehend a method of travel that is fast, convenient, comfortable and cheap. "That's not the american way!" They will proclaim, "If I'm not getting blasted with DNA damaging amounts of radiation and risking my life every time I travel long distance I don't see the point"

Like imagine thinking spending hours just to only spend 1 hour in the air in a tiny uncomfortable seat when you could be kicking back destination to destination in 3 hours travel time where none is wasted on non travel bullshit like "checking in"?

road exists in everywhere. You don't need a road to get to a destination.

But trains rely on railway and it's the fastest vehicle on the ground to take you to the destination. Also it's comfortable and affordable. Cope and seethe.

Easy, once the plane gets to cruising altitude you just stand up. Have you never flown before or do you only fly something insane like teterboro to jfk in a jumbojet lmao

Yes you can walk around but there's nowhere to go, just the tiny bathroom. Supposedly back in the 80s you could walk to the cockpit but obviously not anymore. It's just an aisle of seats. On trains there's usually a bar at least
