Why aren't Muslims allowed to shave? I've looked it up, and all I've found just says that they aren't supposed to. I want the real reason other "just because".

because muslims today are more focused on hadith then they are the quran. keep in mind the the Prophet forbade any imagery or items of his from being created or proliferated because the religion absolutely would have become christian-esque in the worship of him as opposed to god.
now consider that muslims are more informed about chinese whispers complied by someone centuries after the Prophets death than they are of God's literal word.
for me, hadith informs the act of performing worship and fasting - but everything else, from fashion, to beard to day-today activities are stuff i can and will ignore, because God is not going to take marks off you for not having a beard and not wearing fucking robes from the 5th century.
i will wear modern clothes, i will shave with a safety razor, i will wear cologne and i will perform my 5 daily prayers all the same.
the damage arab culture and hadith has done to Islam is genuinely mind-boggling.
