At 11:35 PM, a security camera spotted four cars driving slowly past Adam’s place stoop. Diego Suero who was the gang leader of the Trinitarios sent the men out that night for blood. The reason he sent them out was because one of their members got shot in the face and they were on the hunt to see if they could find who shot him. The person who got shot survived by the way.

The four cars stop at an intersection and turned in the direction of where Junior was walking to head home. They yell out “Popo” which is a word used to see how rival gang members would react. They yelled out other words that Junior didn’t understand according to Kevin Alvarez. Junior said he isn’t sunset which is a gang. Junior then proceeded to run, the four cars stop split up and surrounded Junior. He tried to run to the hospital but they blocked off the entrance so he ran to the bodega.

At 11:37 PM , junior is seen entering the bodega panicking , he then tries to jump over the counter before he slips. The bodega owed named Modesto Cruz , then helps Junior over the counter. He tried to help him hide before Jose Tavarez enters the store and spots junior. He then alerts the others. Three men are seen entering the store. Danel Fernandez, Kevin Alvarez and Michael Sosa- Reyes.

Parked outside the bodega are the cars that chased Junior. Eight men are waiting outside armed with Knives and Machetes. Junior and Modesto exchanged some words with Kevin. Kevin and Michael lied saying Junior did something to one of their grandmothers. Modesto did his best to try to keep them from opening the door but the threatened him. Junior is seen being jumped inside the bodega before he gets dragged outside and stabbed.

The initial story is that one of the Trinitarios sister had a sex tape going around, and that they spotted Junior as the guy in the video. This turned out to be completely false, also Kevin Alvarez (pictured in white with black hat) testified against his gang, stating that they were retaliating for a Trinitario's member who was shot in the eye just the day before.

Alvarez recalled one incident of violence that had happened before the night of June 20 between rival chapters Sunset and Bad Boys saying, “A Sunset member shot a Bad Boys member in the head or eye…the guy that got shot used to be a Sures member.”

Alvarez says the cabinet informed the Sures and Bad Boys that the gang was having problems with Sunset, saying [they] “had to do whatever possible to hunt the Sunset…"
The Los Sures and Bad Boys were instructed by Suero to carry weapons and be ready to attack Sunset members if they should see them. “He said we were to get in our cars and go to where the Sunsets hangout or are known to be…and do what we have to do,” Alvarez testified.

Alvarez testified that the gang members in his car rolled down the windows when they saw Junior walking down a Belmont street, calling out “Popo,” a Trinitarios saying. “The kid just looked up. At that moment people started stepping out of their vehicles,” Alvarez said on the stand. Junior was just walking while looking at his phone, according to the testimony.

Alvarez says Santiago and Tavarez approached Junior first and started asking him questions. Then came Estrella. Alvarez says they were asking Junior if he was Sunset. Alvarez says the gang members used a certain code to determine whether or not Junior was a Sunset.

If a Trinitarios member calls 1090, you are supposed to identify the set of the gang you belong to, Alvarez said. Junior did not respond. “He looked very surprised and scared and started running,” Alvarez said.

After much speculation that Junior was a good boy and affiliated with an NYPD program, it has been revealed he was at the very least affiliated with rival gang members. Various friends were in local gangs, and it believed that the "mistaken identity" rumor was made up. Junior was believed to have been present at the scene where a Trinitarios member was shot just 1 day prior.

When Trinitaros members were given the word to seek and kill Sunset gang members, it is believed they were retaliating against those who were present the day before.
