I understand the War of Independence and 1813, sure. Some people still saw themselves as British, while others disagreed with that colonial tyranny shit.
Afterwards they adopted an isolationist policy and prospered into the good ole USA (also Wild West but what can you do when you have Mexicans everywhere).

And no point did any of these conflicts present a serious threat to the USA or US citizens, so what fucking duty? You didn't fight any non-pozzed wars in over 100 years.
Instead this is all about "the USA's" "foreign interests", which developed into your own form of colonialism - the only thing that ever gave you any duty to fight against, long ago (besides injuns, ok, but those basically fought colonialism too; it was sorta mutual combat).
