The EU is a corrupt and demented mess because european politics are a corrupt and demented mess. Its just shit going in and then shit coming out of it.
Getting rid of it would fix literally none of the problems people associate with it (look at the UK), while if we did manage to fix those problems the EU would be a marvelous thing to have.
Blaming the EU for problems is just falling for the gaslighting of national politicians who are behind all of those decisions in the first place.
