No its not. Once you get someone to agree to something they'll start to defend and aggrandize it to no end. That is human nature.

Its why propaganda aimed at children is so effective. They lack the critical thinking skills to know what they are learning is bullshit and by the time they develop critical thinking skills their ego has wrapped around their ideology that it feels like a personal attack if they think they are wrong.

You have to pull inception-tier shit to get them to change their minds, and the best way to do it is to convince them that taking an action against their ideology is the best way forward to satisfy it. A tricky play.
