The public information office of the Russian external intelligence agency on July 14 denounced NATO for turning Moldova into an advanced base for a war against Russia.

It asserted that NATO plans to use Moldova as a forward bridgehead on the eastern flank in a possible future military conflict with Russia and make it an appropriate place for promptly moving NATO forces towards the Russian border.

In case a direct conflict occurs between NATO and Russia, the Moldavians will be cannon fodder under NATO’s scenario, it warned.
