I grew up not far from the Black Sea where you can safely swim a kilometer away from the shore and several kms sideways without bumping into any ships or currents or really dangerous jellyfish. Nah, that's Azov Sea that is very shallow. Black Sea is still obviously more shallow than an ocean, and wildlife is obviously not as fancy, but you get to 5m+ depth 25m away from the shore. I used to dive without equipment up to 8m for fun, but it's possible to go 15m+ deep with equipment still very close to the shore.

It's small but exclusive, only people in the immediate neighborhood go there. Casual and familiar, mostly families, all locals which is nice because we're a popular shore town in the summer so the beach is 1
Crowded with tourists, and 2. Not free. This small river beach is free, though. It's about 5 blocks away from my house. I go there all the time. A fixture. Overheard someone half-jokingly call me The Lifeguard to someone else on the beach yesterday. Pretty good beach spot I got.
