Are vacations overrated?

Is it too expensive and too much of a hassle just to spend a week in a foreign country?

What do you guys think? I'm a broke neet who can't afford to go on vacation but it seems pointless.

Depends on how outgoing and wealthy you are.

If you're counting your shekels and deciding whether to go, then it's already a bad feeling. Vacations are meant for people who treat the expense like a drop in the bucket.

It's not ideal for neet hiki types since they prefer a reclusive lifestyle and are bothered by normalfags.

For the average /pol/ user I assume it's not worth it.

The answer has been yes since at 2008, outside of maybe that brief window between 17-19 where it looks like maybe things have recovered. It's so bad I know co-workers with only 1 or 2 children who have big earning husbands (and who make like 80k a year themselves) say they can't afford them anymore. Prices have skyrocketed and quality has declined so drastically that unless you're pulling in at least 500k household a year it's not worth it. Of course I'm talking about cross country/international trips, it's possible to go somewhere driving distance 2-3 times a year but even then you're not getting value for the prices you're paying. It's disheartening because in my youth if you pulled in >=80k yearly you lived rather comfortably

if you're actively dating, telling a girl you don't travel / go on frequent vacations immediately breaks the illusion that you're neurotypical / might be a normie

speaking from experience

have at least 1 or 2 international travel stories under your belt

I don't mind travelling for camping and outdoor activities. I've gone to Oregon and Vancouver Island for hiking, surfing, and rock climbing.

But going to big cities to take pictures and eat at restaurants and do normie shit is boring and a waste of money to me

Nobody cares about anything anymore.

Not if you know how to travel. Wife and I leave the US 3-4 times per year. Never pay over 500 total for flights and always get discounts for stays. Picked up business tickets to Londonistan for 50k points each, so effectively $1k.

Destination vacations are for women and homosexuals to waste money at pretentious overpriced hotels and restaurants

Acceptable vacations for men are camping, hunting, fishing, motorcycle touring, etc

Men take vacations to engage in satisfying activities, women go places to tell people about it and post photos

In the Internet Age, for most part. Unless you have a specific purpose to go somewhere, it's a waste of time. It's just a massive hassle to travel, and once you're wherever, it's more pressure to "make the most of the time", which makes it borderline stressful. That, and with so many niggers, poojeets, and chinks spread out over the past couple of decades, oftentimes it's "Paris shock" anywhere you go.

A week is pointless. Make it a month or two. Whatever the tourist visa allows. As your home base, book a room in a shady hotel in the red light district that offers monthly rates. They're cheap for the quality and the mafia protects you from trouble. Then do what a man does best. Explore. Expore by day, explore by night. Any walkable city has a million little secrets, a million stories, for you to discover. After four weeks, you will walk 20km a day and it will be the most normal thing in the world.

Exactly man. I drove to Smith Rock Oregon with a buddy and spend a week rock climbing. We bought a guidebook and tried to climb all the hardest routes we could. Cooked meat over a campfire. Watched the stars with no light pollution. It satisfied the male drive for conquest and exploration.

It was way more satisfying than going to some big liberal city, taking selfies and eating at overpriced restaurants. That's an inherently feminine activity.

vacations are fake and gay. you dive into an unreality which is toxic. you gaslight yourself into believing you 'experienced a different country/culture' but its a fake relic idea of a time when countries were actually different, cultures and nations existed, instead of now where everyone in the world is just an American speaking a different language.

Vacations should be short and sweet. Last time I only went for 2 nights and went by train. Didn't even have to leave the country, there is so much culture right here. Why should I go to fucking Spain or Portugal when Leipzig is just as mysterious to a wessi like me?

Everything is the same everywhere
Inside a casino is the same as every other casino
Every mall has the same major retail outlets as all the others
Every resort offers the same "experience" as the rest
Waiting on line at Disneyland is the same as being on line at the DMV
Imagine spending all day flying coach to get to your colonoscopy

Traveling is too much like work to be fun anymore. Also, (((they))) ruined flying. It used to be fun but now it's gay. Unless you're renting a house near a beach for like two or three months it's just not worth the hassle. Actually, beach towns are pretty gay too. Too many people.

women are really nasty like that. if they hear you dont travel they will ruin your reputation and try to bully you out of that social environment. because it devalues her own life. nooooo you cant not care about traveling!! i took a loan for this trip!!! respect meeeee!

My wife and I consider doing anything that's not our usual day-to-day activities a vacation. We rarely go out to other states or countries but my state has shitloads of activities and different biomes.
My gen X parents on the other hand fly out to different parts of Mexico and the Caribbean like 3 times a year and all they do is lay by the beach, eat, shop, and do whatever activities they have there like tours, ATV rides, horseback riding, etc
