I've been noticing a lot of zoomers online BEGGING for remakes of their favorite video games that came out for consoles like the XBOX360 or the PS3, as if they were published ages ago. I can't see how a game like Gears of Wars would benefit from a new engine or new graphics - the original version is fine as it is. Just think about how long did our parents have to wait for the re-release of Star Wars. What is it with the zoomer sense of nostalgia? It's completely off.

Post modernism. We're seeing the death of old media as its slowly been supplanted by the Internet. The 'irony' (in reality this is skepticism) of post-modernism and self-awareness of it is inherently reliant on a grand narrative. It cannot create it can only deconstruct or reference itself, it's designed to kill media not recycle it. 99% of consumers will take whatever slop you put in their trough and be content, while post-modern media can be repetitive and sustain itself indefinitely on its own references (like anime) it is always dependent on a greater narrative for its meta. Media can run like this forever, it's cheaper, easier to reproduce, but ultimately will result in exhaustion once it runs out of narratives to draw from. I'd like to be optimistic and say 'at that point people will move on' but anime has been in a death spiral since the 2000s and people still consume it in mass quantities.
