Trump approve drops on...immigration?
According to a new CBS poll, the area where Trump seems to be slipping most with his base and supports is his handling of immigration.

>More Americans are souring on Trump’s handling of the situation, with now 44% approving and 56% disapproving, according to a CBS News/YouGov survey.

>That approval rating is down significantly from March, when he had 54% backing him and 46% disapproving of his administration’s actions. Even in June, his rating on the issue stood at a dead even 50%.

Why do you think, considering everything up to this point, it's actually immigration of all things that's the area people are souring on most on President Trump?

What is the point of deportations if importations via h1b outpace is two-fold?

The White House has pretended Trump flip-flopped (again) on this issue, but that's not actually the case. He's still arguing for amnesty even if he's refusing to call it that.

AI Overview
Reports in mid-June indicated that the Trump administration had temporarily paused immigration raids on businesses in the agricultural, hospitality, and restaurant sectors. This decision followed concerns from these industries about the negative impact of raids on their workforces, according to the Economic Policy Institute.
However, the administration quickly reversed course, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials were directed to resume raids, including at workplaces. This led to a period of conflicting messages from the administration, causing uncertainty among employers.

Indians abused the southern border too, and they also get imported by h1b, which my point was we get more h1b agreements than we do deportations, negating any progress

The H-1B1 visa is a specific category for temporary workers from Chile and Singapore who come to the U.S. to work in specialty occupations.
Here's the annual breakdown for H-1B1 visas:
Total Cap: 6,800 visas are set aside annually for the H-1B1 program from the broader H-1B cap.

Year-to-date deportations, as of late June 2025, are at 1.1 million, according to USAFacts. This figure includes both deportations and returns of non-citizens, which is the Department of Homeland Security's definition of deportation.

The annual H-1B cap limits the number of new H-1B visas issued each fiscal year. The current cap is 65,000, with an additional 20,000 reserved for those with a U.S. master's degree or higher. These caps apply to new H-1B petitions, not extensions or renewals.

If asked, I would've also said I was dissatisfied with Trump's immigration policies because deportations are happening far too slowly, and he's allowing in more street shitters. But the left is also disapproving because they want to abolish ICE altogether.

'approval'/'disapproval' is hard to interpret. DIsapproval can mean he's not deporting fast enough or he's deporting too much. Approval could mean approval of the deportations, or the restraint
