The truth is, we don't exist in that sense, just like an African American saying they're African doesn't specify which part of Africa they're from. Most Americans can't name many African nations, and they might tell me, "Who cares about them?" Well, I do, because many of those nations want to come here, yet none of them seem to rebuild themselves. Remember when the Americans left Liberia? That was odd because they claimed America was racist, similar to modern-day Zimbabwe saying this about Rhodesia. However, the minute the Americans left, the Liberians also claimed the Americans were racist for leaving. So, it's not about pleasing people who can't be pleased, or about stretching out your arm to help those who would cut it off.
If you're interested, read this great poem by Zhuangzi. Barring that, they killed all the intelligent Zhao Chinese who made up all these theories. You'll learn about the orange tree, a great parable for life. Essentially, while walking with a carpenter master, he was taught carpentry. He noticed the cedar tree, which was big and beautiful, and everybody was worshiping it. He asked, "Why are they worshiping this big tree? Isn't it useful?"
The carpenter said, "No, it's not useful. It doesn't build good houses."
He asked, "Why do people like it so much?"
The carpenter said, "Well, look how big and beautiful it is."
Later that night, he dreamed about the orange tree, which gives beautiful fruit.
However, the orange tree is a weird case: people pull away from it when it's not ready, and it never gets to grow to its full potential. Thus, no one ever sees its greatness.
