The real number is 80% for women and 40% for men, but close enough I guess.

Otherwise the monogamy VS polygamy debate is that of strategy.
Some societies prefer monogamy while other societies prefer Polygamy + Hypergamy.
There isn't a system that is innately superior, they just have their pros and cons.
Polygamy + Hypergamy promotes more natural and sexual selection.
Monogamy promotes a more egalitarian sexual model with better social cohesion.
So I personally think polygamy is more useful during hard times or during crisis, while monogamy is better when you have a stable society.
If we follow OP's logic, where a small minority of men keep all the women for themselves, you run the risk of the 80+% of men revolting and causing a revolution.
