There's the type, the "I just want to get shit done, get paid and go home, thank you very much," even if they don't have the qualifications, they usually learn pretty quickly.
It's the type that probably learned early on, if you want to get something done (right), you gotta do it yourself.
The US was always known to be the country of opportunity; also, your work laws make "hiring and firing" much, much easier than in Europe, so they are more willing to take risks.
I've noticed in Germany, a decade a go, it was always "need degree from university" quite firmly, today it's "need degree or comparable qualification."
I no longer feel ignored, thank you.
Of course, I do IT, in medicine or law, it is very different and degrees are rather licenses, not (supposed) proof of knowledge or method.
