I bought my house in 2013. It's estimated value has more than doubled since then. I don't even live in a particularly high demand area.
I don't know how anyone who isn't straight up wealthy can afford to buy a house.

I bought mine last year. I moved to a big college town in flyover America to do it. You can do it that way, by moving to a small city or big college town in flyover America. You have to get out of the coastal suburbs and trendy cities or youโ€™re screwed.

Real estate companies who will hold onto them indefinitely in the hopes that they can offload them to a rich guy for a profit years from now.

This is a real problem with house construction and sales. For the same plot of lands, you cad either build and sell a moderately prices affordable family home for $300k, or you can sell a mini mansion for 3.5 million. What is your incentive to make and sell the cheaper home? If it takes you 8 weeks to sell the cheaper home and 8 years to sell the mansion, you STILL end up making more money on the mansion when you sell it so it makes sense to always bet on big return.

None of my siblings have a house and my parents keep buying new "campers" which they call cabins and paying rent to people to keep the "cabins" next to some water source.
I often wonder why my parents did not invest in some rental property and charge the cost of a mortgage in rent to my siblings.
I would but I currently have a mortgage on a 1800s home that is nearly falling down.

A close friend of mine bought a house in Denver with cash just last year tho. Heโ€™s 33. Another friend who is 28 just bought a house in Ohio. Not fully paid off but he makes good money and will have no problem paying it off early if he wants to. Ohio is cheap but it is a nice place. Iโ€™ll be getting a house soon, just want to have plenty of cash left over after a decent down payment and make sure I get a good rate.

>millennial woes
Their youth is gone and the best years are behind them. Their women are withering away, many of whom never even blossomed into motherhood. They have no assets or stake in the economy. They have no social standing and mostly stand alone.
Like an old work animal whose time has come and needs to be put down, like a stray dog who overstayed it's welcome, like an old man who understands so well the point where oblivion takes you forever, it's over for millennials they are finished.

Boomers could have started a business that rents homes to their family members at cost.
You wouldn't need to make profit and could allow your children to live in a house.
What happened?
Why are you still paying a mortgage in your 60s?

For me it was because I saw the msrket exploding and knew I couldn't catch up on my own. So I asked my parents for help. Not to buy me a house, but to contribute something just to make a minimum down payment. I was told that was too much to ask for. The market exploded. Houses went up by more than my annual earnings year after year. The year after I asked for help they bought a lakeside cabin. I am alone against family's that give a shit about their children and investment firms. That's why I don't have a house.

Because banks are already invested in boomer refinances and can't lend more money?

Sorta. The Fed was 'forced' to raise interest rates because of rampant inflation post-COVID, and mortgage rates are downstream of that. Homebuyers are just on the wrong end of the high-low cycle atm

>older millenial
>bought house in 2018 with 20% down payment.
>property 3x in value the past 6 yrs.
>my current mortgage is 1/3 the cost of renting an equivalent sized house.
Housing was in reach for a lot of us right up to coronavirus. Thing is a lot of my generation chose to spend money on dumb shit. For example. When I was buying my house a lot of my peers told me I was a tard for buying a house as a single guy and that I should keep renting and take my down payment to "bruh buy a sports car broooo the bitches luv it!". Other millenials I've known would rather go on 1-3x expensive vacations on credit a year though I don't see a lot of that happening anymore with the high cost of living.
Kind of hilarious because now 6 years later they bitch about the high cost of rent.
Sucks for GenZ and GenA because they never had a chance. Millennials had a chance but many of us blew it.

that's only true for people that bought houses they couldn't afford initially (a lot of millenials are "house poor" cause they wanted a mcmansion). I had to refinance under the new rates and I'm fine.

I built a blanket fort on my bed in my parents basement. Mortgage jews BTFO. I'm on the board of directors, and I have UNLIMITED POWER in deciding the height of my walls, hell even the shape of my entire domicile. I also make all of the laws (no niggers allowed) and host nationalistic assemblies nightly. I even allow the ambassador from kotland to sleep in my fort.
