Any company that frames it as "we don't do all that nonsense" should be read as "we charge everyone more upfront, take it or leave it". Just like you get more for selling your car privately than you would trade-in.

I've recently wondered too... I think car sales are part of a weird system whereby we have trillions in assets floating around, and banks making loans to people, and then printing money based on those loans. The supply of cars far exceeds the actual demand. I will drive past countless dealerships on my commute, hundreds... thousands of cars just sitting for the most part and taking up large amounts of space.

It's a scam pretty much. Just like the chinese ghost cities. We have the same shit happening here. People building "houses" all over the place and then the 100k in materials and labor put in magically turns in to $1,000,000 in some weird banking magic.

You can just go on Craigslist.

i actually did something similar through my credit union years back. i bet others have similar auto purchase services where they will find the car you want and finance it at a really good price. they do the searching, haggling, and loan paperwork for you. all i had to do was tell them what i wanted and sign maybe 2 forms? had the keys within a week, was awesome

Dealerships are business model from pre-internet era. There are still some reasons to have them(they are the cheapest way to get authorised service centres distributed and a lot of manufacturers make fuckload or money on selling parts to these), but generally the reason why you have them is because cars were too expensive to have local stores sell them and so the dealership model was figured out.
