Finland and Sweden used to be the same country, Finland was the based part due to having to deal with Russia, they also have a very strange language on top of Russian so that would make them open to different kinds of thinking but in a war context. When they split they lost the based part so there is no reason for why they do and believe what they do, that open mindedness for ugrics was then filled with other foreigners.

Swedes are actually extremely xenophobic, even to other Swedes. The issue is entirely that you also have a large group of people who are extremely susceptible to propaganda and those basically act like the community morality police. Those people love being in media because then they get paid to basically chastise people in various ways but its now considered being a "public intellectual" or "satirist" rather than "propagandist" which is what they actually are. Normal Swedes sees this and mostly just keeps their opinions to themselves and anyone who doesn't gets turned into a pariah. That keeps going until the there's been some kind of systemic crisis at which point everyone says they always saw through the propaganda but everyone still agrees that the pariahs were wrong because they weren't acting like proper Swedes.

This is just how Sweden works as a political society. Right now we're at the turning point for the pro-immigrant narrative that's play out over the course of several decades.

I hope you get your shit together. Even though I sometimes say shit about you, I like Sweden and the Swedes. I've spent time in Sweden for work and it's kind of the same country as Finland for me. A bit different, but in a way I still feel at home.
