What's 1 day? 24 hours? Or very late in the morning and then released before the end of the workday? Wtf? How many 10s of thousands of dollars did processing her cost just to keep her in custody for a day?
In the states police can detain you for 24 hours(specifically) without even charging you. This is performative.

>According to the statement, as a teenager, Chouay travelled to Syria to join ISIS, "knowing that her expected role would include marrying an ISIS fighter and raising children under the ISIS doctrine."

>She is not believed to have participated directly in terrorist activities or combat.

>After arriving back in Canada, Chouay underwent "depolarization therapy" and has been evaluated with a "very low" risk of recidivism. The RCMP determined she does not pose a significant risk to society.

>"At least she's not dying in a detention camp in Syria," said Lawrence Greenspon, an Ottawa defence lawyer who advocated for the repatriation of six Canadian women and 23 children held in Syrian detention camps, including Chouay and her daughters.

>"She's faced justice here in Canada as it should be."

I don't get it, why does he care so much? She chose to go to a faraway place and join a terrorist organisation, why should you take responsibility for a person like that?

one day in custody at the welfare center where she can pick out her new 8 bed room home, a free car and determine the height of her monthly payments all by herself. She was also allowed to place 300 calls to all of her family members and inform them that they will all get VISAs. The same story repeats day in and out in every so called "western democracy".

Clearly Jewish surname. Think Grynzpan, also Alan Greenspan (former U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman). Etymology of names is interesting, they can often change a few letters migrating across cultures so you have these surname groups all tied to each other. Like Cohen could also be Kohen/Kahn/Kihn/Cohn and variations like that.

>Terror propagandist 'Dark Foreigner' should get 14 years for 'vile' crimes, Crown argues
>Defence for Patrick Gordon MacDonald calls for 6- to 8-year prison sentence
>when he was 20 and 21 — MacDonald helped create three racist, hate-fuelled terror recruitment videos

14 years for making 3 videos vs 1 day for literally joining ISIS

There’s tons of cases like this, for example:
>Only, when he got there, that 15-year-old turned out to be a cop. He was arrested at the hotel (with $140 in cash on hand) and subsequently ended up in court — but he won’t receive a criminal record for his actions, in part because of his immigration status.
>last year, a man on a study visa was found guilty of groping a woman’s genitals at a club; he was given a conditional discharge to lessen his chances of deportation.
