No. Gaelic refers to the continental Celtic(gallic) languages spoken in Scotland and Ireland, compared to insular brythonic.

Irish Gaelic is Irish, Scottish Gaelic is Irish, because Gaelic is Irish, you distinguish Irish from scottish gaelic for the sake of Scottish Gaelic, not to legitimised Irish. The scotii are Irish, Picts spoke old brythonic.
