However, NIST does not ascribe the failure of WTC 7 to damage from WTC 1, estimating that it would have collapsed regardless due to fire.
The truth is the buildings weren't built that well.
The truss + core system makes a building inherently more at risk for collapse in a fire due to differential rates of thermal expansion and the possibility of the truss floors "pancaking."
The buildings also didn't use enough concrete.
The trusses used spray-on fireproofing instead of concrete, and the staircases were encased in gypsum board (drywall), instead of concrete.
