I am 35 and I have never had a personal cell phone. I only got them when work supplied them and I used them only for work and during working hours. My wife would get annoyed that I wouldn’t take it with me especially when I was out in the woods with our kids. I keep it in a Faraday bag when not in use and I won’t talk about important or sensitive matters when my wife has her phone around.
It sounds paranoid especially to the average phone addicted person but to me it’s a no brainer: why would I ever choose to have a tracking device and audio video recorder with me at all times? It makes zero fucking sense and sorry but Fruit Ninja, social media and inane texting isn’t a worthy sacrifice for privacy and security.
I feel like an alien sometimes watching people bike or cross busy streets glued to their phones, texting mid-conversation, displaying clear anxiety when they’re separated from their phone and so on. It’s batshit crazy and most people are so deep into it that they can’t see it and even think I’m a psychopath for refusing to embrace it.
