Why did they destroy their nuclear energy? I seriously can't understand why. Even during the war with Ukraine they kept closing down reactors. Aren't the Germans supposed to be smart?

The EU is a rival empire to the US, so the US pushed money at EU elites so they would self destruct their economy. It worked.

The dumb cunts that started this shit need to starve. The christians decided that natural selection wasn't real, ignoring population fragmentation and die offs to make their dumbshit reasoning on this work, and this is the end result of their radical universalism: retarded whores who should have died. Because germans are autistic and if a decision is made to "go green" then they have to go balls to the walls and anything that doesn't fit into that has to be wrecked, Including the german industry that was the envy of the world. Having an economy is bad for the environment, don't you know?
This is also why germany should never have a leading role in the EU.

>Budget of the Ministry of the Environment
>Nuclear waste remains a financial burden forever

>A large portion of the Ministry of the Environment's budget is spent on nuclear waste, leaving less money for environmental protection.

> Göttingen taz | “Nuclear waste is devouring environmental protection” – this is how Wolfgang Ehmke from the Citizens’ Initiative (BI) for Environmental Protection in Lüchow-Dannenberg comments on the Federal Environment Ministry’s draft budget for 2025.

>Minister Carsten Schneider (SPD) estimates the total volume of his budget at 2.7 billion euros, which is just 287 million euros more than in the previous year.

>Of this sum, the interim storage of nuclear waste and the search for a final repository account for a total of approximately 1.4 billion euros – meaning that radioactive waste will remain a financial burden forever. In contrast, only about 400 million euros are earmarked for nature and environmental protection.

>Even after its failure, the Gorleben repository project continues to consume significant amounts of money. According to the draft plan, the costs for backfilling the former exploration mine and demolishing the above-ground facilities will rise from €20 million in 2024 to €33 million.
Not only the Ministry of the Environment has to pay

>Compared to the costs of remediating the dilapidated Asse nuclear waste repository near Wolfenbüttel, the expenditures for Gorleben seem almost modest. Between 1967 and 1978, approximately 126,000 barrels of low- and medium-level radioactive waste were dumped in the former Asse II salt mine.

>Because the pit is unstable and threatens to fill with water, the containers should be salvaged and brought to the surface if possible. Schneider's ministry plans to spend around 206 million euros on the work this year.

Really though it was typical German arrogance in thinking that they were not definitely getting played by Russia into crippling their personal energy independence and Europe's energy intradependence. They thought that they were getting cheap Russian fuel at a bargain for all time, and honestly believed that they were getting political power in Russia too.

Russia just wants more fuel in of itself. They have reserves of basically everything made for fuel. The US is becoming the same due to boomers dying off and costs increasing making low fuel more of a paramount need. >they do for 4 years what ever they want
>next vote comes around, people maybe switch a bit between the normal 3-4 parties
>same policy is made the next 4 years
>repeat

What do you think why they shit themselfes that hard with AfD? The system could not keep going like that forever, now there is an actual alternative (that still has to prove that they are not just controlled opposition but anyways) for the first time in decades and no matter how much they try to brainwash the people they are still the strongest party (right now together with the cuckservatives). Sadly all that takes a lot of time. I predict that the next 4 or more like 8 years they will keep making policy against their own people just with more and more parties having to work together to somehow form majorities of sheep-votes untill at some point the AfD becomes strong enough to do it alone.

Judge her by her actions and this fact becomes undeniable.
It wasn't incompetence or stupidity that was responsible for Germanys ruin. It was planned and executed.
I seem to remember a quote from round about the end of the Second World War that said "Germany must be utterly destroyed".

Germans are the most mechanical people that exist and paradoxically at the same time also have a very irrational fear of any machine or power that they can not understand or they feel is "cheating nature/god". Germany is one of the biggest consumers of homeopathy (fake drugs).
This sentiment was very common in WW2 as well. Hitler surrounded himself with many of these esoteric people.
One of them was Viktor Schauberger, who claimed that Water had a memory. He deviced machines to keep "water alive" which are STILL sold in Germany (and Austria, Switzerland) until today.
Going against nuclear energy goes in the same vein. It doesn't matter who you argue against in Germany, you will find opponents to nuclear energy in every political direction.

The US was the one who was selling nuclear power to begin with. The issue has entirely to do with oil right now, which Russia is absolutely fucking the US on. Why would zog push an oil based economy if it only plays to Russia's advantage? I think the real reason oil is being pushed is because it can be transported in liquid form, compared to uranium or coal. Uranium also requires plenty of oversight to transport and is more scarce than oil meaning it needs to be transported over longer distances. This is the sole reason oil is still king, it allows for a far wider power structure, even if uranium is more energy dense.

U-235 is very rare, outside of salt fission reactors, the supply is limited it's only 0.7% of the uranium supply. I absolutely agree, but outside of a conspiracy that suppresses the true scarcity of the resource you can't really build wide with it and oil can be used for plastics, fuel, asphalt, etc. I'm into the idea of electric cars on some level, but there's very few vehicles that run purely on electricity which is really all nuclear power generates. Much of the infrastructure for a purely electricity run economy just isn't there.

There's no conspiracy. Fuel costs are negligible in uranium reactors. Diablo Canyon spends about 47.2 tonnes of fuel per year to produce roughly 50% of the electricity used in my entire country. That's 47.2 tonnes of fuel, not U-235, which comprises less than 1/10th of that weight. This supposedly adds up to a rough $6/MWh of the roughly $30/MWh total generation cost.

U-235 is the only natural fissile substance known to us right now. Plutonium. U-233 and Thorium are made artificially in reactors. It takes energy to create enriched uranium and most of the Uranium (U-238) is mined in Kazakhstan and Australia. It takes more labor to extract than just setting up an oil rig.

https://world-nuclear.org/information-library/nuclear-fuel-cycle/conversion-enrichment-and-fabrication/uranium-enrichment

>Natural uranium contains 0.7% of the U-235 isotope. The remaining 99.3% is mostly the U-238 isotope which does not contribute directly to the fission process (though it does so indirectly by the formation of fissile isotopes of plutonium).

Also once the Ukraine conflict set off the US took a massive hit to its nuclear capacity.

>In 2022, the enrichment market was impacted by the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Many utilities, particularly in Europe and the USA, tried to diversify their nuclear fuel supply or even cancel deliveries of fuel from Russia. In this context, in July 2023, Urenco confirmed plans to add 700,000 SWU/yr new enrichment capacity at the UUSA plant, with the first new cascades online in 2025. Orano is studying possibilities to expand its enrichment capacity.

Enriching uranium is energy intensive, the vast majority of uranium isn't fissile. That's the whole reason they started developing salt fission reactors and trying to improve the tech to begin with, and none of this even accounts for the fact that electricity can't fully supplant things like natural gas or petro yet.

Again, it represents a vanishingly small percentage of the generation cost at a regular uranium-water reactor. The last 50 years of nuclear development has been entirely focused on bringing the operational cost, which represents the overwhelming majority of the generation cost, down. MSRs were originally designed because the USAF was mad that the USN had nuclear subs when they didn't have nuclear planes. Today it's being developed as a propaganda exercise against Der Ewige Boomer who think they're magically meaningfully different. Yeah they burn almost all of the fuel while LWRs burn something like 5% of the usable U-235 and yes they can be made to (inefficiently) breed their own fuel from thorium but fuel represents maybe 10-15% of the generation cost of what is already the cheapest electricity source in existence. You're optimizing the wrong thing.

It was the boomers who pushed nuclear to begin with. The US was the one who sold it as a magical power source that somehow produced more energy than it took to enrich it. If that was the case then nuclear fusion was solved by nuclear enrichment? You're still getting your Uranium from Russia mostly. Yes it's true a single pellet of uranium fuel is worth nearly 150 gallons of oil, but you need to enrich it first or you have access to the incredibly coveted U-235.

https://css.umich.edu/publications/factsheets/energy/nuclear-energy-factsheet

You need energy to mine it, you need energy to process it, you need energy to enrich it. Sometimes it even takes more energy to get it in a usable state than it ends up producing. It doesn't begin and end at the reactor.

>In 2022, the U.S. generated nearly a third of the world’s nuclear electricity, followed by China, France, and Russia.9 Nuclear energy provides about 19% of U.S. electricity, a share that has remained stable since the 1990s.8

The US produces the most nuclear electricity and it's only 20% of the energy output. You really need to ask if the juice is worth the squeeze, because this is commodity fetishization to the highest degree.

You're missing the forest for the trees. There's no way it takes $6 per MWh to mine, convert, enrich, then fabricate it into fuel. Most of the profit from nuclear doesn't even come from the output the reactors were sold dirt cheap, it comes from the process, particularly enrichment and the making of the solid fuel itself. Also the type of reactor matters too, a heavy water reactor can run on unenriched uranium, but take more fuel to generate electricity. The cost comes from the process not the electricity generated per MWh, that's how they profit to begin with, it's why nuclear energy is so much more expensive to purchase.

Nuclear energy production in Germany was already small before we decided to stop it. Around 10 % of all electrical energy produced. That's not much. Expanding nuclear energy would have been extremely costly and nuclear fuel is quite limited too, unless you risk new technologies like Thorium.

Long story short:
Russian intelligence has been running influence operations in Germany basically since the two halves unified. The anti-nuclear lobby was a russian psyop intended to make Germany's economy dependent on Russian oil, and thus remove Germany's ability to oppose Russian foreign policy.

Merkel was a Russian plant. Always has been. She killed the country's nuclear energy program dead, made the country dependent on Russia, hamstrung its military, aided and abetted Russia's manufactured refugee attack on the EU to disunify it (triggering brexit in the process), paralyzed the EU during the invasion of Crimea and then made the annexation fait accompli with the toothless Minsk Accord.

The Reichstag is weak and divided by design so it's completely unprepared to deal with a leadership figure who is insulated against all accountability, undeterred by any checks or balances and funded by endless quantities of foreign money. Merkel sought to destroy Germany and take the EU with it and partially succeeded.

Nuclear waste is only a problem if you want it to be. The problem can be essentially solved by fast neutron reactors. China has almost finished building their first two commercial-scale fast neutron reactors (of the CFR-600 model). Russia already has fast neutron reactors in operation that are burning nuclear waste right now, and they are building more.
https://www.interfax.com/newsroom/top-stories/104177/

The US and France used to have fast neutron reactor projects too, however anti-nuclear activists forced those projects to shut down in the 1990s (lol)

>Too expensive
The high cost of some reactors is mainly due to lack of experience and/or bad project management; it's not inherent to the technology. For example, China's CNNC can build a Hualong One reactor for just 1.9 $/W. In fact, many countries have managed to build reactors at prices that are very reasonable when you consider that they have a very high capacity factor, provide stable power, provide power in a highly predictable manner, and are often suitable for construction close to major load centers

nuclear is important mostly because it's stable output that can last very long with stockpiled fuel. Solar and wind are entirely relevant on uncontrollable phenomena (sunlight and wind speed) so it's impossible for an entire developed nation to bet their industry and infrastructure on those always being available when energy is needed.

Gas and coal both do work for this - usually energy plants relying on them only go online when there's a lack of sunlight/wind and more electricity is needed, but compared to fissile materials you can't stockpile as much beforehand, because the amounts and space needed for large scale energy production is enormous. Precisely because of this it also means you can't expect to get a lot from abroad during a war/emergency, because to transport necessary quantities is impossible to do discreetly.

Any nation that wants to be energy independent and not crash down its infrastructure and industry in case of embargo or war that locks down trade needs to have enough nuclear power to guarantee basic functionality & enough stockpiled fissile fuel (or be lucky enough to have absolutely massive coal/gas reserves within its borders).
