I blame the way we are conditioned as children. Right from a young age, we watch movies and cartoons where one character is the good guy, and the other is the bad guy.

Most people don't grow out of that way of thinking sadly. As adults, the good guy/ bad guy narrative that was massaged into their brains as kids, just seeps it way into important things like politics and world events.

Every news story, every election, their brains are constantly ticking over, trying to spot who is the good guy and who is the bad guy. Whose side do I take?

They just can't get that concept, that conditioning out of their brains. Every election, every major world event has to have a good guy and a bad guy.

They don't look at the big picture and realise, hang on a minute, we've had basically an even number of Democrat Presidents as we have had Republican Presidents for the last 40 years. And literally, no matter who has been in charge, things have declined and gotten worse for 4 solid decades. Literally not one thing has gotten better in the last 40 years. It has been a straight decline for 4 straight decades. Hmmm maybe none of them are the good guys. Maybe voting doesn't matter. Maybe there are bigger things at play behind the scenes than the red team/ blue team crap they sell to us.

Very few people ever really think this way.
