Lets have a realistic thread on how to solve the Israel question

I see way too many people talk about Israel without having a realistic sense of the situation. They say that Israel has no strategic value and we should completely abandon them to fend for themselves. I believe this is short sighted for a number of reasons:
1. Israel gives the USA strategic leverage over the middle east region. Our presence is a backstop to other nations getting a foothold such as China.
2. Israel is a massive military base funded primarily by US taxpayers. Why would we simply abandon and hand over that infrastructure to our enemies?
3. We all know that Israel and Mossad have blackmailed global leaders, not just US politicians. Its not like they would just allow us to do that. They must have plans in place to counter that kind of move. So its like they are holding a gun to our head. This can be seen in the veiled threats that netanyahu has given trump.

All in all, how can we solve the Israel question? Remove israelis and end the open air prison? Make Israel the 51st state? We cant just give up that land and infrastructure, its too valuable.

Israel can be strategic. However the power dynamics between the US and Israel needs to be reframed and corrected. We Control ISRAEL. Not the other way around.

We should have our own independent military base in the middle of the country (air force with a private highway to a small port where we can base some ships). but israel most follow most of our directives in regards to foreign policy

We solve the Israel issue by growing balls and realizing we have over 300 million people and they have only 7.2 million jews.

I agree with most of what you said but think we need to reframe our relationship even further. To wit: Why do we need a military base in isreal? Why do we need a military base in the Middle East? If one of the countries wants to fight with the other one, why should we care? Oil prices go up? Oh no, that sucks, we will have to develop alternative sources and or technologies.
