Why do boomers act like they lived through the Great Depression when they lived through the greatest era of human prosperity ever?

Bullshit. Life may be worse now for new generations, but life back then wasn't as amazing as people make it out to be. There were still house shortages, poor people, etc.

Boomers didn't ((( live through ))) it. Their blood sweat and tears built it.

Millennials and zoomers suffering from the the same corporate greed the boomers did, and 2/3 of the boomers retire with poverty-level income.

You're fucking idiot if you let yourself get tricked into blaming them for what corporations obviously did.

Boomers had to wait in gas lines back in 1979 because they were buying it faster than it could be produced.
They will unironically argue that was a terrible challenge for them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_proxy_wars#Cold_War_proxy_wars

The two superpowers and their sphere use up substantial resources to manipulate and assist around 60 proxy wars and endless additional conflicts, constant arms race in all military branches, constant cultural warfare, constant indoctrination, constant glow operations and espionage, constant infrastructure upgrades to protect against nuclear strikes and other attacks...
nothingburger...

It's sad how retarded people have to be to think that nothing happened during the cold war.

If you were poor in America as a boomer you were a lazy retard period. In Europe maybe things were different but in America there was no excuse. My grandpa supported a family of four kids and retired at 55 working AS A JANITOR. Boomers lived life on baby mode and if you were willing to work and didn't blow all your money you could work just about any job and prosper.

>Life may be worse now for new generations, but life back then wasn't as amazing as people make it out to be.

The US was the only manufacturing developed country left after WWII so Boomers had space to grow and expand but they didn't read Plato The Republic or Libido Domini so they are now freaking out about their y2k and Vietnam war repressed trauma. they thought if they just bloviated all over social media, micromanage, verbally entrain, and helicopter the younger generations, that things would just automatically keep getting better. you actually have to do complexity science and improve processing/manufacturing methods for things to keep getting better/more sophisticated.

>Boomers had to wait in gas lines back in 1979 because they were buying it faster than it could be produced.
Boomers do the same shit constantly. They'll bulk buy all the bread and milk and all perishables before any minor inconvenience and let it rot to ensure they got theirs. Just think back to COVID and the tp shortage and how boomers were hoarding everything and causing artificial shortages for two years and then sitting outside in parking lots trying to resale the stuff at 20x markup. It's just boomer nature.

North America from about 1948 to 1968 was just about as close to utopia as you could get

Wages were high, inflation was low, society was cohesive etc

I think where people get confused is they forget that the 1948 -1968 period was just 20 years with the nightmare 30โ€™s and 40โ€™s before it and the shitty 70โ€™s behind it,

1984 to 2001 was also a very nice time, not as great as the mid century but a good prosperous era even if it had high crime and a fraying social fabric.

People have very bad recency bias where they see how things are and their monkey brain jsut assumes they will stay this way forever despite the world going through eras of good times and bad times every 20-25 years regularly
