Give me one good reason why decreasing the speed limit to 45 mph on the highway isn’t a good idea.

If they want to control speed, use those new electronic auto driving cars to go a set speed. Everyone else not using the electric auto cars kind of just get stuck behind the robots.
Anything else is stupid.

Please explain how driving more safely would be logistically stupid. Make auto drivers illegal, and hire white americans at a decent wage, and no more than one -two days otr. Its not hard, and if it paid enough people would flock to these jobs. But of course you're all niggers or kikes and so your opinion is discarded and death be upon you.

Cars are more efficient now so decreasing the speed would decrease resistance allowing for a greater mileage to the gallon. That’s my guess. The speed limit was sort of designed for maximum efficiency in some regard. There was a guy in a prius who would get a MPG of, I think, 125. America is so fucking massive yet we still have so many monkeys and jeets on the road, I really wouldn’t feel safe having an autobahn. Imagine if you let these monkeys drive as fast as they wanted. Fuck, I say it’s a good thing. Pull these apes over dude. Get em off the fucking road

Going slow isn't impeding. Nobody has ever been pulled over for going 15 below unless they were suspected of being high or carrying illegal/dangerous cargo.
I don't get it. Just stop smoking weed while driving and the cars next to you won't seem so fast and scary. Plus, slower driving increases the risk of falling asleep at the wheel

They tend to get angry and speed up out of spite when you try to do that or imply you're about to do it. Also, the shoulders are constantly full of broken glass, burst tires, wood, nails, garbage, car parts, rocks, etc so its not worth it. Plus, I'm not enough of an asshole to send shrapnel caught in my tires at the guy behind me.
The worst is when I'm driving 100 miles through mountain passes and granny Smith, Bob with his overloaded RV, or rajesh/Carlos are going 20 under because the mountains are scary and the corners are too spooky for them. They only speed up in areas where it's legal and feasible to pass and they never use the 100 different slow vehicle turnouts/shoulder lanes along the way

Because there is zero reason to do that.
The interstates were designed in the '50s for a typical car from the period to be able to safely cruise along at well over 100 mph. Modern cars can easily handle far faster speeds.
Also, they already tried this in the '70s you stupid zoomer. From 1974-1987 there was a federal limit of 55mph, and then 65mpoh until 1995 when the law was repealed and states were allowed to set their own speed limits. It was originally done in an attempt to deal with the Oil Embargo and decrease fuel prices by increasing fuel efficiency by travelling at lower speeds, but it didn't achieve anything. Fuel consumption only decreased by less than 1%.
If anything, the speed limits should be increased significantly, but it is prevented by all of the retards like OP who think anything over 55/65 is "unsafe" because of some gay law from the '70s that had nothing to do with safety.

They could always change the gearing to make it be more efficient at higher speeds if every place starts raising speed limits. I don't give a shit about auto efficiency anyway, I only care about getting to my destination faster.

Maybe if you're slamming down the pedal. I can easily accelerate from 70 to 75 without even hitting 1.75k rpms. You're a retard who doesn't understand how the underlying math actually works so you just found some study or article to parrot.

That's true, but on my mountain route, 90% of the time there's always oncoming cars in the opposite lane and they only appear in areas where it's legal to pass. Next time I'll probably try to pass on the right using the slow vehicle turnouts, but they make that shit pretty short

Not at all. The speed limit on certain stretches of road is typically set at the speed where 15-20% of drivers exceed it. It has nothing to do with safety or efficiency or anything like that. They will go out and do a survey of how fast people are driving on a particular road, and if 80% of them are driving less than 45mph, they will make the speed limit there to be 45mph.
The maximum speed limits for the interstates are based on politics and conventional opinion more than anything.

>The most efficient speed is typically somewhere around 55mph.
It will typically, on average be something around 55mph in most cars, because that's engineers try to maximize efficiency around that speed, but it can vary significantly at different speeds depending on things like gear ratios.
>At 70 and 75 you are burning a ton of extra fuel.
Aerodynamic drag is based on speed squared along with some other factors, so yes at higher speeds there is more drag to overcome. But it is really only starting to become a significant factor at normal highway speeds.
>accelerate
There is a huge difference in fuel usage between accelerating to a faster speed, and maintaining the same speed. Maintaining a steady highway speed in normal conditions on a flat level highway typically only requires 10-20 horsepower to overcome aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance in the tires, and friction within the drivetrain.
Accelerating to that speed from a slower speed requires significantly more, and will depend on how quickly you want to accelerate to the faster speed.

7/23/2025, 11:50:36 PM No.511170895
>>511170610
This is all besides the point. Accelerating from 55-60 is more efficient than accelerating from 70-75. Because air resistance is proportional to the square of the velocity. From a physics standpoint accelerating faster or slower to a set speed requires no additional energy. In reality it might because you have a shitty engine or bad tires.

On a foggy dawn, with kangaroos on the sides of the road prepared to kamikaze into your car? Extreme rain? Big ass truck? Yeah, go slow, all good. Perfect conditions? If you go slow in a normal vehicle you're retarded. 45mph would simply be ignored, and rightfully so
The worst cunts though are people who go not only slow, but inconsistent. Driving along a road I can't overtake on because the outside lane was turned into a bike lane (fucking greens niggers) and getting stuck behind a Toyota Yaris going anywhere between 10-40 km/h below, oscillating between those extremes at random? I need the high speed to activate my brain neurons so I can keep paying attention. going faster than 80mph on the Autobahn is deemed an increase in operational danger of your car.
What that basically means it they will potentially consider your high speed as a factor leading to the accident but you are not automatically at fault.

To give some examples:
You go 120mph and some retard swerves over two lanes and crashes into you.
He is 100% at fault

You go 120mph while there is heavy traffic in the middle lane and someone miscalculates your speed leading you to crash into him while he is trying to overtake the car in front of him: You will be at least partially at fault

Everyone who drives under the limit is always fucking inconsistent. Cruise control has been around for a century or something, just drive 5 below the limit and hit cruise if you're so afraid of cops. My 2010 work van fully loaded can go 20+ over the limit through all the twists and turns with no issue or risk of flipping, so why the fuck are you going 10 under in a newer sedan/crossover?
On another note, I've timed my drives many times, and I noticed that during my commute, if I speed 10-20+ over the limit, I can get to my destination 5-10 minutes earlier than the navigation estimate. But if I'm stuck behind shit drivers who are driving even 1-10 mph under the speed limit and not using passing lanes correctly, that same exact commute is 10-20 minutes longer.

>why can't we have one here
I live part time in Florida and the I-95 is an absolute hellhole to drive on.
Here are some reasons the US is not ready for a no speed limit highway

1. Driver education
Simply said driving education in the US doesn't go far and in-depth enough to ensure people are ready to operate a motor vehicle.
in Germany you have to take dozens of driving hours with a certified teachers as well as theoretical lessons costing you a total of 3500 dollars to get your license. Around 50% of students fail their test and although you are allowed to repeat them that means more classes and hundreds if not thousands more spent.
This acts as the first barrier to keep retards, niggers and poorfags off the road.

2.Vehicle quality
Every vehicle on German roads has to go through rigorous testing at regular intervals.
Fail the test or made illegal modifications to your car? You will get towed the next time police stops you.
Tuners hate it and it's an extremely autistic system but it keeps shit cars off the road.

3.Traffic enforcement
The autobahn works because whenever there are speed limits or general rules to follow people will follow them.
People drive on the rightmost lane and overtake on the left.
They don't cut others off.
They will let you merge.
Speed in restricted areas or pull crazy shit? Say goodbye to your license.
