I'm in a small county patrolled by just a sheriff's department, no city police. Cronyism is the corruption I see most. Deputies have been found drunk on the job and in their patrol cars without consequence. Our last sheriff was forced to resign after getting his son off of some charges scot free. There's other things, covering for civilians that deputies consider friends or otherwise feel sorry for. Other instances of body cam footage mysteriously going missing, especially over things that make the sheriff look bad, or prisoners property never being returned after they're released from county jail.

Not so much brutality or bribe acceptance as far as I've ever known, but definitely other kinds of corruption.

they are fine here, called them once recently on gipsy woman who tried to break in to neighbor apartment, they arrested her.

i just got couple traffic tickets, once avoided raid in club for underage drinking by being too drunk sleeping deep inside the club and they did not notice me and i slept thru it.

there are two types of cops here, 'city police' in theory should only take care of parking violations and were too stupid to ge into regular cops, and regular cops who mostly are fine. Both carry guns

Police isn't feared here. Brutality is only an issue if they protest against politicians. Real cops have weapons and city cops vary depending on the city.
As for myself when I was young I hated the police because they had a lot of civilian clothes types who were actually thugs and stopped every teenager thinking we had some weed or hash on us and basically wanted to rob us of it for their own gain. One day one of them took his gun out and did a roll over their fucking car hood like he was fucking Jack Bauer or something. A friend laughed and then the cop came to him and put the gun on his forehead and was acting all like HUH YOU'RE LAUGHING NOW. That was during the days of the "BAC" (brigade anti criminelle) from Sarkozy and it was a failure like everything Sarkozy did desu.
Then as I became a young adult I started believing cops were a necessary evil.
Now as a mid 30 adult who pays a shitload of taxes I've gone full circle and want them all to resign because they are fucking useless. They will never come if you call for people starting shit at night. They didn't want to review cctv footage when someone did a hit and run on my car at night. They do fuck all against drug dealers because politicians are afraid to give them real orders at risk of being perceived as racists. So why the hell do I pay so much taxes if all they are good for is giving parking tickets? Fuck them.
