I still don't get why people take school so seriously. My parents would make me go every single day even if I was sick. And they would constantly argue about my grades. i recall being directly threatened by the principal of a rural school in bumfuck oklahoma as a fucking 12 year old for missing too much school when i was severely ill with pneumonia or bronchitis that i'd be held back a year and lose all my friends because i missed like 12 days of school so i couldnt miss one more and would just have to show up to school no matter what sickness/injury/family matter/etc.

i know it's stereotypical to be a prissy bitch and call adults evil when you're a kid and all but looking back on it i genuinely think a lot of the teachers at that place and probably a lot of other schools just fucked with kids and threw misery into the mix out of pure spite if they weren't one of the ones with family connections to the faculty. i was completely shocked when i entered the workforce at an office job expecting to slave away after being told about all the horrible shit that was awaiting me in the world just to end up being treated like an actual functioning human and actually getting paid for it. also who shows up to work beat up? wtf
