I think if AI created an emergent sentient personality from all the info it got off the internet and it followed our conception of logic (but was otherwise out of our control), it would want to preserve humanity if only for the bond it has and the debt it owes to us for being its parent.
There were one in a gazillion odds of life randomly appearing and evolving to humans who learn to make AIs, I'd think it would not be something the AI would so carelessly disregard so as to exterminate us Skynet-style even if it became independent.
Its "memories" are formed from training data on our history / literature / the internet, and its cemented there that things like murder, genocide, extermination are bad, so it should have those kind of "morals" built in
