Architecture is hideous
Fashion is vulgar
Culture is not culture at all

And the worst part is that people don't even care. This is how you get the Tartaria nonsense. People cannot fathom that in the past people took pride in their civilization and genuinely had the intelligence and skills to create beautiful things.

One idea I have is that this relates to the decline in intelligence and a decline in religious faith.

A rare intelligent post on this board. Now, how we could reverse this? Is it even possible? Or, if it isn't, what could we do and what even we should do? What's the battle we should fight, now? Do we aim to just delay the inevitable, or accelerate it, or to build a parallel society, or to repair it all? How?

No it's not. Its like the prequel to a cyberpunk movie.

We all have supercomputers in our pockets. With a simple prompt we can conjure art that would put the best Renaissance artist to shame. There's nothing we can't know, aside from classified info. Do you remember when we used to have to go the libraries to look up stuff?

> With a simple prompt we can conjure art that would put the best Renaissance artist to shame.

Empty art with no meaning more than how gooning-worthy it is. "Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing", just like our industrially produced capeshit.

Remember when art used to mean something? How art was about man's place in the Universe? Terror and redemption? The Pilgrim's chorus in the end of Wagner's Tannhรคuser? Modern irreligious man can never create true art, that gate is forever closed. Not my words, but Oswald Spengler's, already a century ago.

As the modern world will descend into a nightmare (just think of the cyberpunk) there will be a wave of Second Religiousness, as Spengler put it. But it's very debatable if it can produce any real art, as it's not a coherent culture-creating power but a hodgepodge of coping mechanisms in the marginal of society.

I love going to the library, tech is okay to look up factoids, but a book goes in the toilet, yard, bed with me. The library has old books, new books, book sales, chess club, cute ladies, Iโ€™d be very sad if my only experience with reading was my fucking annoying phone with the cracked screen, annoying interruptions and constant need for power.

Well I guess that for normies who had civilized grandparents, their oldest books are from late 1800's. I guess the oldest books in my family's collections are that tier. Beyond that it's library and university stuff. Our oldest book is a 530 years old medieval liturgy book in Latin. Oldest Finnish-language book is from 1543.

Said this will be something the common prole folk would engage in as the main religious institutions declined/embraced trannyism, and he was right.

Arts and crafts movement sprang up during this period specifically because everyone thought industrial capitalism made the world ugly, souless and mass produced

It wasn't better or nicer, especially not for the majority of population who didn't get to have fancy ornamental palaces and sculputures on facades. Majority of people lived in slums or extremely cheap buildings which got demolished ever since and replaced with something nicer

Erm, ackshually...

>majority of population who didn't get to have fancy ornamental palaces and sculputures on facades

Even the prole barracks *were* ornate. Literal factory buildings were adorned with neo-Renaissance ornaments. It was not a big deal, at all. After all, they lived in a time famously known as *industrial revolution* and it meant that ornaments could be made in industrial quantities. Actually, according to the economy of mass, the more ornate some building was, the cheaper its ornaments became, as they could use for example the same mold again and again.

Picrel is Finlayson factory, built around the time when the last non-artificial famine in Europe decimated the Finnish population. We were a dirt poor thirdie country, Serbia was filthy rich compared to us back then. Still we could afford all this architecture in our fucking factory buildings.

This is a former army barrack, built in 1875. Today it's fancy enough to be used by a university. We call such buildings "value building" today, which is ridiculous. Factories and army barracks of the old third world Finland are considered highest value quality buildings in the modern rich Finland free of hate. "We somehow lost the skills to build like that", "We wuz masons n' shieeet"...

These are cheap proletarian flats built soon after WW2. The bronze plague in the corner of the building contains seething about the civil war which was lost by the Reds. It's literally commie-tier. Still they could afford beauty and ornaments, and today this area is very very bourgeois and inhabited by bohemian green middle class and the proletariat is banished to commieblocks. It's sad. Modernism punishes mostly the weakest ones, those who don't have money to escape the horrible modernist cityscape.
