or even better, try to understand who you want to be, how you want to feel, what you want, why you want it, how to go about it etc. try to align your actions with your desires, so that if you want to be good also do good deeds, and if that is difficult for you try to understand what is holding you back.

Basically, you gotta look inside and untangle all the mess that was made in your early childhood. This might also require you to have some quiet and chill in your life, and of course the ability to connect to your body/heart (if you can't, keep trying). Walks in nature and stillness can help you a lot, so can God (plenty of addicts turn their lifes around using religion). Whether this means you use God as a substitute for the cosmos, the Christian God, the Buddhist version of spirituality, doesn't matter.

We are not seeking the truth, just the truth about ourselves. Later you can try to find your calling, the truth, the true God, the true religion, for now its all about spirituality (emotional management and returning to a state of being connected to nature).
