There was no coverup. Trump said he'd release "the files" the same way he claimed he'd build the wall or lock her up - it was just a ridiculous off the cuff promise he never intended to fulfill. He can't release the files because they don't exist, but nobody will believe that now.

They won't release the files because the information that hasn't been released is just more detailed accounts of Epstein's abuse and it should remain confidential out of respect for the victims. There is nothing in there about a pedophile network or a client list. They weren't investigating his money laundering activities, so that's not in there either.

Conspiracy theories about Epstein are so rampant that most people know more about the speculative parts of the case than the actual case revealed in court documents and credible interviews.

Dude the FBI claimed to have recovered a trove of video tapes labeled with names of people Epstein blackmailed with prostitutes when they raided his New York townhouse. The Florida AG said he was told by (somebody important that we don’t know) that he was an intelligence asset. They claimed that they knew his French associates that were using a modeling company as a front for trafficking underage girls. Now I’m supposed to believe that actually none of this was ever really true, all of these different people and agencies were just talking out of their ass, and there’s no story here? I don’t care if Epstein killed himself. As far as I’m concerned, suicide is as likely as him being murdered or smuggled out and put into witness protection. The point is that this guy was at the center of sex trafficking, money laundering, child abuse, involving a slew of highly notable people and possibly multiple intelligence agencies and that is just a fact. The American government is covering this up either to protect their friends, or to protect the interests of foreign nations.
