Trump's base and Trump himself has been invested endlessly in the Epstein story. Also Epstein isn't even just about the pedophile aspect but also the blackmail aspect. Trump releasing the list ( if he had a clear name ) would have made him a hero essentially for following a campaign promise that most people wanted, him refusing to release the list one violates a campaign promise we wanted and two makes him look complicit with it.
