nah, the police's job is to persecute criminals, they have no responsibility to protect people, since it's impossible to be everywhere all the time to prevent crimes
when I say protect people from bad decisions, it's the judicial system that often times makes contracts null even if both parties signed it, for being predatory or unethical, despite both parties signing it and both parties agreeing to selling someone's entire house for a piece of rock
