The landscape of what is or isn't illegal, especially with vague things like obscenity laws, is incredibly inconsistent across jurisdictions (and it's not clear which jurisdiction(s) would even be relevant if an illegal purchase were to be made).

Therefore, payment processors are compelled by legal liability to censor maximally, hence the situation we are currently in.

The solution is somewhat counterintuitive: Require payment processors to process all transactions (regardless of legality, perceived or otherwise) while giving them a shield from any liability for doing so.

Consider the timing. This is all political to push gamers into crypto. Literally no reason to suddenly attack Steam and Itch.io and piss off a billion gamers. They're all clamoring for uncensorable goon material now and discovering crypto.
