With AI and automation flying ahead, you’d have to ask yourself what’s the point of going to university at all? If loads of white-collar jobs are going to be wiped out by machines in the next couple of decades, wouldn’t it make more sense for young people finishing school to head into the trades or take up work that a robot can’t easily do? Chances are, by 2050, office jobs as we know them could be nearly gone. It’s the trades that might be booming, like we’re heading back to the way things were in the 18th century when having real, hands-on skills was what mattered most.

This is also a question college doesn't answer and requires more training at the start of new employment. But the college to office job model is dying.
