This isn't the reason why they don't help anyone. It's the other way around and the law itself is based on the principle that someone would only help a stranger in distress if they felt responsible for their distress.

Also in China they are very brainwashed, and say someone is drowning, you rescue him, he dies anyway, they can be charged with a crime, china is weird

It’s probably a cultural thing. If this was a law they would be all rushing to call the ambulance at least.
It’s probably changing with the younger generation due to the internet but it’s definitely a thing for the older ones.

you guys keep posting this. this supposed law that i've never seen directly referenced which apparently dictates action. this law that is apparently so prevelant that every man woman and child knows it as a fact of life. we see webms like this >>511277094 where even children ignore a dying person. in all other aspects of life we see chinese people acting like bugs. we see them cooking dogs alive, eating bats, running over each other. along with indea most construction site gore videos come from them. but oh no, when it comes to helping a dying person suddenly they all have empathy and it's instead a law that prevents them from doing it. despite the fact that i've never read a story about this law or seen it referenced.

maybe the answer is simply that they are not human.

See the wikipedia article. It is essentially the same reason why I would not get involved in a 'lovers spat' between a woman and a man in public. Many cases where a woman will side with the man after you try to save her.

From my understanding it was struck down because of these situations. With a Good Samaritan Law put in place, but the chilling effect is already in place.

Likely do not see many articles because the vast majority of news will be in Chinese and usually spread through WeChat and their firewalled social media.

Xu Shoulan v. Peng Yu, also referred to as the Peng Yu case[1] or the Nanjing Peng Yu Incident,[2] was a civil lawsuit in the People's Republic of China, brought before the Nanjing District Court in 2007.

In 2006, Peng Yu had encountered Xu Shoulan after she had fallen, breaking her femur. Peng assisted Xu and brought her to a local hospital for further care. Xu accused Peng of having caused her fall, and demanded that he pay her medical expenses. The court decided in favor of the plaintiff and held Peng liable for damages, reasoning that despite the lack of concrete evidence, "no one would in good conscience help someone unless they felt guilty".[3] The verdict received widespread media coverage, and engendered a public outcry against the decision. It is regarded as a landmark case because of its implication that the Chinese public is vulnerable to civil liability for lending help in emergency situations due to the lack of any Good Samaritan laws.[4][5]

However, with Peng's admission of guilt and resolution of legal proceedings, the financial fraud narrative of the case was proven to be untrue, though in 2015, Melody Young voiced concerns that the chilling effect of Peng's actions on bystander intervention still remained.[4]

>It is essentially the same reason why I would not get involved in a 'lovers spat' between a woman and a man in public
ok but tons of people still do. because they have empathy.
Do you not see my point? one would think that this this law is so aggressively prevalent that even a 3 years old understands it more clearly than his mother's own face. if that was the case, then for every webm of a crowd ignoring a dying person there should be like 100 articles of a person being punished for helping someone.

If that law existed in the US people would still be helping one another and ignoring it in a majority of situations. you would NEVER see a webm where men women and children just casually go about their day with a corpse lying in a store.
mind you the article you linked said 2007. so apparently this massive cultural shift happened in 10 years or so. are you really suggesting that if a law like that was put in place int he US that in 10 years videos of families ignoring a corpse in pulic would be widespread?

They did implement a good samaritan law to overrule that court decision. But this is likely deeply engrained due to scammers abusing the ruling and the fact that this type of ruling could take place in the first place.

Likely if they wanted to have real effect, they would have to add liability to not helping. Essentially negligence leading to penalty.

>>511279167
I'm not saying its right or correct. But I will give some of them the benefit that the Government facilitated this culture. That said, Chinese culture is very selfish in nature.

I will say this though, as the society is swarmed by Indians and Africans. I do feel my empathy for people shifting. Even helping homeless people - it comes with the chance of being stabbed (with no warning or provocation) and resuscitating someone on the train could lead to you OD'ing on fentanyl. Eventually the society breaks down to a point where helping only risks hurting you. It doesn't have a 'neutral' effect or a 'positive' effect. Your not the hero you were when society was white, instead your just a dead man who thought he could help someone in distress.

The reason why chinx don't help other chinx is because they can't make up their minds. They simply don't know if they should eat the unconscious chink, sell him/her on Temu or use the bodyparts for traditional medicine.

>The court decided in favor of the plaintiff and held Peng liable for damages, reasoning that despite the lack of concrete evidence, "no one would in good conscience help someone unless they felt guilty"
Though peng did later admit to bumping into woman later. This reasoning from the court does imply sociopathy. Empathy is clearly foreign to them

I'm not sure if you have this issue in the UK. But in Canada things have become so far out of control that being kind can become detrimental.

When I did spend time in the UK the issues primarily seemed around alcoholism and some meth. In Canada Fentanyl, Tranq and other such drugs are far more prominent - to the point you will see entire encampments of drug addicts; as well as drug addicts scattered across every corner of the street. You cannot reason these people because their conditions make them irrational. This however is fundamentally different than an old man falling down. But it does have the same effect of numbing people to tragedy.
